Odd’s Mediocre Blogs: Darkrai VS Count Bleck
"No man chooses evil because it is evil; he only mistakes it for happiness, the good he seeks."
- Mary Shelley
Darkrai, the boss of Wish Park.
Count Bleck, the bringer of the end of all worlds.
Depression can be… quite a lot for us, not having that special someone to bring us up. But for these two, it led them down a dark path, and it nearly led to the prophesied end of worlds. They were lucky to be redeemed by the four heroes of light that fought against them but in a fight to the death, whose misery would finally end. Will the Pokémon with no friends stop the Chaos Heart, or will the man who lost his beloved destroy Wish Park, like all other worlds? We'll find out, in a DEATH BATTLE!
Before we Start…
Hi, I’m Oddmegaman, better known as just Odd, this is my very first time making one of these blogs… by myself. This was a rather large project for me, and while I can’t say it was the most fun, I wanted to do so because I adore this matchup and I wanted to do something big for it. In general, while I do follow a lot of this stuff, I am absolutely not good when it comes to this kind of stuff so take this blog with a grain of salt and don’t expect anything remotely close to the level of professionalism as say G1. But never mind me, what about the actual characters?
How Darkrai will be handled is a bit… complicated. The obvious route would be to just give him only the two Poképark games since that’s the version of Darkrai being looked at. However, not only would this make for a rather boring debate, it would also be rather uninteresting to cover as Darkrai doesn’t actually do all that much when it comes to feats in Poképark.
So Poképark Darkrai (and by extension the other Poképark versions of Pokémon) will be semi-composited with the version from the main series (the main games, anime, closely tied manga and spin-offs that takes place in the same world like the Ranger games), at least when it comes to stats. There’s enough reason to say that the Pokémon seen in the main series should be generally comparable to the ones seen in Poképark [See Before the Verdict]. Given that the Darkrai from Poképark is essentially wild, no trainer involvement such as items or TMs/HMs will be given, and any material found contradictory to the Poképark games will be ignored, meaning Darkrai will only be scaled to others he should be able to in the context of the Poképark continuity.
Bleck is also rather complicated due to the nature of the debate regarding whether the main games and the Paper series take place in the same universe. I won’t bore you with the details since you likely already know them, just know that I am of the argument that at least the first three Paper Mario games (including the one Bleck comes from) take place in the same universe as the main games, so main series scaling will be used for Bleck alongside the six main Paper Mario games.
Also a lot of this blog was created using several sources for help, specifically for things such as calcs. The following will be listed here:

Background
Darkrai
"I have taken your pals' memories of you. You will forever be in a world for one and one alone."
In Wish Park, Darkrai had been very lonely, with no friends to keep him company, Darkrai became depressed, but that's when he got an idea to fix his loneliness. He would trick all the Pokémon of Poképark to come over to Wish Park to play, unfortunately for them, they would be hypnotized to stay at Wish Park for an eternity, forever stuck in their “paradise”.
Unfortunately for him, his plans would continually be thwarted by the Hydro Rowdies, or the Electro Gatherers or… whatever group name Pikachu, Oshawatt, Snivy, and Tepig are called when you face him. A prophesied dark vortex would eventually be created by Darkrai's meddling, and after being ultimately defeated, Darkrai looked up at the dark vortex and had a change of heart, and would ultimately sacrifice himself to stop the vortex from consuming Poképark and Wish Park.
But this wasn't the end for Darkrai. Despite the evil that Darkrai had done, Pikachu and pals didn't want to just leave him to die, so they called upon Reshiram and Zekrom, and were able to save Darkrai. He had realized the error of his ways, and he got what he always wanted: friends.
Count Bleck
“Your princess has been taken... by Count Bleck!”
One fateful day in the Mushroom Kingdom, word had gotten out that the princess had gotten kidnapped, shocker I know. However, when the Mario Bros. stormed Bowser’s Castle for such a princess, Bowser had not in fact partook in kidnapping Peach. Revealing himself to everyone was the true culprit… Count Bleck!
This mysterious man ravaged everyone, and was attempting to bring the end of all worlds, a prophecy found in the Dark Prognosticus. But who exactly is this individual, what would drive a man to wish extermination on all life?
Well, it all began with one man. Lord Blumiere. He belonged to the Tribe of Darkness, a group of ancients who stole away the Dark Prognosticus. Blumiere cherished all life, but what he loved most of all, was a human girl named Timpani.
However, such a love was forbidden, and before Blumiere and Timpani could be married, his father banished Timpani from their dimension, erased her memory, and left her to wander endless worlds for eternity.
After searching and searching and finding nothing, Blumiere lost everything. Life was now meaningless to him, a cold nihilistic shell of his former self. He stole the Dark Prognosticus for himself, and destroyed all that remained of the Tribe of Darkness, taking up the identity of Count Bleck.
Eventually, Mario and company (the four prophesied heroes) would thwart his plans using the power of the Pure Hearts, Bleck would realize that the pixelated butterfly that followed Mario was really Timpani. Before anything else could happen, Dimentio took over, banishing Bleck and others to Dimension D, and taking over the Chaos Heart for himself. However, the love of Bleck’s minions were enough to restore the Pure Hearts that had originally stopped Bleck and ruined Dimentio’s plans.
Even still, the end of all worlds would persist, with only one way to stop it. Exchanging their vows, Bleck and Tippi would wed, bringing a stop to such a prophesied end. While Bleck and Tippi seemingly ceased to exist, perhaps such a fate was not inevitable for them. While Bleck may be gone, he regained what he had lost all those years ago: his love.
Equipment
Darkrai
Wish Park
Darkrai’s “home” in a sense, Wish Park is Darkrai's domain. He was capable of convincing various Pokémon to travel here for fun. If only they realized that “fun” would never end.
Poster Portals
The primary method of entering Wish Park, they were created by Reuniclus. While Pikachu and Pals needed the literal power of friendship in order to open these, Darkrai is likely able to open them with no issue, as his minions are capable of doing so, and even Pokémon like Krokorock.
Attractions
Many attractions (and by many I mean 4) exist in Wish Park, and they’re very fun, that is until you start experiencing the aftermath as by playing these attractions you fall under Darkrai’s spell and wish to never leave Wish Park and always have fun. You don’t even need to play the attraction as simply ingesting the cake from the Cake Zone was enough to bring Pansear under Darkrai’s control.
Light Polariton
Count Bleck
Scepter
Count Bleck’s main tool of combat. With his staff, Bleck is capable of conjuring up attacks of dark energy and other various spells.
Dark Prognosticus
The book that was originally taken by the Tribe of Darkness so it’s power wouldn’t be taken advantage of, Bleck stole it and used its descriptions to kickstart his plan.
The book is one of prophecy, many of such events being foretold in the book, with many of its stories leading to bad endings.
Chaos Heart
Obtained via Bleck using the Dark Prognosticus’ information to wed Bowser and Peach in order to summon it, the Chaos Heart is an all powerful artifact and is considered the opposite of the Pure Hearts. It was capable of bringing about the Void and causing the end of all worlds.
Bleck and other users of the Chaos Heart can also use it to physically boost their own abilities. With Dimentio in particular being able to merge with it.
The only way shown to be able to stop the Chaos Heart is with the Pure Hearts, as their positive energy of love is the opposite of the Chaos Heart.
Abilities
Darkrai
Moveset
Darkrai should be capable of learning and using any moves he can use naturally in the main games.
- Disable: A technique where Darkrai is able to negate and disable moves from others.
- Quick Attack: A speedy attack that usually guarantees the first move.
- Hypnosis: Darkrai is able to use a form of hypnosis on his opponents, usually to put them to sleep.
- Sucker Punch: Darkrai gets a cheap shot in, attacking the opponent before they can. It will fail if the opponent isn’t using an attacking move.
- Night Shade: Darkrai makes the opponent see a frightening mirage that deals damage equal to his level.
- Double Team: Darkrai pulls a Naruto and creates shadow clones of himself, making his evasion go up and harder to hit.
- Haze: Darkrai emits an icy haze that resets opponent's stat buffs and other effects (such as Leech Seed, Focus Energy, etc.).
- Dark Void: Darkrai’s signature move. It drags the opponent into a world of eternal darkness, causing them to fall asleep. In Legends: Arceus, it also lowers defensive stats and lowers priority.
- Nasty Plot: A stat buffing move for Darkrai that sharply raises his Sp. Attack.
- Dream Eater: Darkrai eats the opponents dreams (or nightmares), dealing damage and recovering HP from it.
- Dark Pulse: A pulse of dark energy that Darkrai fires at the opponent. It may also cause the opponent to flinch. In Legends: Arceus, the move will always hit.
- Shadow Sneak: Darkrai’s shadow seems to move on its own as Darkrai unleashes a surprise attack on the opponent.
- Hex: Darkrai unleashes spectral energy, hexxing his opponent. Damage is doubled if the opponent has a status ailment.
- Shadow Ball: Darkrai conjures up ghostly energy into a sphere and hurls it at the opponent. It may also lower the opponent’s Sp. Defense.
- Psychic: Darkrai attacks with strong telekinetic powers. It may also lower the opponent’s Sp. Defense
Bad Dreams
Darkrai’s signature (and only) Ability from the main games. When an opponent is sleeping, Darkrai will corrupt their dreams into nightmares, causing them to feel physical pain overtime.
Dark Energy Attacks
Darkrai is capable of conjuring up dark energy, usually in the form of energy blasts or surrounding himself in it to charge at his opponent.
Teleportation
Yep he sure can.
Memory Erasure
Darkrai is capable of erasing a large portion of people’s memories. He used this ability to erase all the memories Oshawott, Snivy, and Tepig had of Pikachu. While this was later negated by Pikachu befriending them again causing them to regain their memories, it was still extremely potent.
Size Alteration
See guys, Darkrai was Dynamaxing before it was cool.
Resistances
Psychic Attacks: As a Dark Type, Darkrai is immune to Psychic Type attacks.
Ghost Attacks: As a Dark Type, Darkrai is resistant to Ghost Type attacks.
Dark Attacks: As a Dark Type, Darkrai is resistant to Dark Type attacks.
Count Bleck
Chaos Heart Barrier
A barrier Bleck conjures up using the Chaos Heart. It was impervious to all of Mario, Peach, Bowser, and Luigi’s attacks, and was only destroyed using the power of the Pure Hearts.
Dark Magic Attacks
From his scepter, Bleck is able to fire shots of dark magic at his opponent, causing them to be squashed under its pressure. He is also able to form a dark vortex that can suck his enemies up.
Teleportation
Yep he also sure can.
Time Slowing
Bleck is able to use magic to slow time.
Power Bestowal
Count Bleck gave Mimi the power to turn into her monster form and gave her invincibility.
Portal and Doorway Creation
Bleck is capable of opening portals and doorways to other dimensions, as well as being able to bring people with him or send them through them.
The Void
Created using the Chaos Heart, Bleck will bring about the end of all worlds using an infinite void that will consume all. While this process is overtime, it is an inevitable end to all other worlds, leaving nothing but a white void, as shown when, even incomplete, it wiped out the entire Sammer Kingdom’s universe.
The only way to undo the Void is to stop the Chaos Heart.
Resistances
Extreme Cold: While his Chaos Heart shield is up, Bleck is immune to the effects of the Snow Bunny item.
Extreme Heat: While his Chaos Heart shield is up, Bleck is immune to the effects of Fire Burst item.
Electricity and Paralysis: While his Chaos Heart shield is up, Bleck is immune to the effects of both the Thunder Rage and Volt Shroom items.
Sleep Manipulation: While his Chaos Heart shield is up, Bleck is immune to the effects of the Sleepy Sheep item.
Time Stopping: While his Chaos Heart shield is up, Bleck is immune to the effects of the Stop Watch item.

Count Bleck
Nastasia
Nastasia is Bleck’s secretary and the person who has been with him during his time as Bleck the longest. Despite usually lacking much emotion, she is actually very concerned for Bleck and cares for him deeply. While Nastasia doesn’t fight herself, she has the very powerful ability of mind control. She’s used this on many members of Bowser’s army and even on Luigi.
O’Chunks
O’Chunks is the brawn of Bleck’s minions. While he isn’t exactly the brightest, he makes up for it in raw strength, easily being able to hurl his opponents away.
Dimentio
While he does have plans of backstabbing Count Bleck, he is willing to assist him and his minions under the lie that he willingly serves Bleck, especially when it comes to making sure his plans of securing the Chaos Heart aren’t jeopardized.
Dimentio is a powerful jester, being able to open up dimensions and send people there. Alongside that, he’s also shown to ability to become invisible, create duplicates, create force fields and explosions, can corrupt technology, is capable of planting Floro Sprouts into people to control them, and should he perish, Dimentio can “leave behind a shadow of his power” in order to keep the Chaos Heart going and continue the end of all worlds.
Mimi
Mimi is another one of Bleck’s loyal minions. She’s capable of shapeshifting herself into various forms. While she usually does this to trick people, she is also capable of changing her body into a spider-like form that definitely traumatized some kids. In her regular form, she attacks using rubies.
Mr. L
Mr. L, aka Luigi, is a hypnotized minion of Bleck’s. He’s able to use any of the physical abilities that Luigi regularly uses, such as his Super Jump. He also comes equipped with his Brobot, a giant robot shaped after his face that is his “bro”.
His Brobot is able to fly through space, shoot missiles and lasers, and has a vacuum function. The L-Type version comes equipped with rocket fists and boots to crush its opponents.

Count Bleck
Overall
- Almost destroyed all worlds with the Chaos Heart. [See Before the Verdict]
- Him and his minions were constantly stopping Mario in his tracks.
- Destroyed the Sammer Kingdom’s world with the Chaos Heart

- Redeemed himself at the end.
- Was reunited with his love.
Strength
- One shot Mario with his magic.

- When finished, the Void was going to destroy all other worlds at once. [See Before the Verdict]
Durability
- The Chaos Heart’s shield is immune to all attacks thrown by Mario and the other heroes.
- Even without his shield, Bleck was capable of taking several hits from Mario and the other heroes.
Speed
- Keeps up with Mario and the other heroes.
- Leaves afterimages.
Scaling
All images (excluding Pikachu and Pals) were created by me :)
Darkrai
Pikachu and Pals
Despite losing to them, Darkrai should pretty easily scale to Pikachu and his Pals due to holding even ground with them during his fight.
- Pikachu can destroy spotlights in one hit
- All four of them can break Chandelure’s speakers in 2 attacks
- All four can take attacks from Golurk who can move trains through gates
Reshiram and Zekrom
While he’s never confronted them in battle in Poképark’s continuity (in fact they actually end up saving him), given that Pikachu and Pals were capable of going head-to-head with them, it’s reasonable to assume that Darkrai would scale to Reshiram and Zekrom.
Both
- Created a large explosion with Regigigas.
- Can destroy a large iceberg with Fusion Flare/Fusion Bolt respectively.
- Destroys a large tornado
- A clash between Reshiram’s Dragon Breath, and Zekrom’s Dragon Pulse creates a large explosion.
Reshiram
- Produces shockwaves while flying.
Zekrom
- Creates a large thunderstorm.
Kyurem
Given that Kyurem was one part of the original form fused between itself, Reshiram and Zekrom as well as being able to use their power. Kyurem should very easily scale to them.
- Freezes a massive amount of water.
- Ghetsis was going to use Kyurem to freeze cities.
Dialga and Palkia
*sigh* Alright let’s talk about this.
When it comes to the higher end of Pokémon stats, you’ll often see Dialga and Palkia brought up, and for good reason. However, that leads into the question of who actually scales to them. And Darkrai is an interesting case.
Various media such as the Darkrai movie and the manga shows him fighting and taking attacks from the two. However, if you want to be stickler and only use feats and scaling chains for Poképark Darkrai there’s evidence there as well.
In the Hoopa movie, Hoopa Unbound summons a lot of Legendary Pokémon to fight against regular Hoopa and Ash. These include Dialga and Palkia, but also Kyurem who Darkrai should scale to (and Groudon because Pikachu battles him in Poképark 1 but I didn’t feel like giving him his own section.) Given that Latias, Latios, and Rayquaza all fight them rather evenly in the film, and damage them, it’s safe to assume Kyurem could scale to Dialga and Palkia.
There are more arguments among many other legendaries that have their own scaling chains (specifically Mewtwo) but generally I think scaling Darkrai to Dialga and Palkia is fair.
- Dialga and Palkia govern time and space in the Pokémon world.
- Dialga and Palkia can destroy entire dimensions (Universal)
- The two of them clashing again was threatening all of time, space and reality. (Multiversal+, due to the main series’ cosmology)
Misc. stuff that Darkrai should scale to due to scaling to Dialga and Palkia
Count Bleck
Mario
Bleck should pretty clearly scale to Mario. He one shots him, takes multiple attacks from Mario, and the Chaos Heart itself is pretty clearly seen as being above Mario.
- Mario can punt castles.
- Survived a stadium exploding.
- Was launched from a cannon to the moon.
- Mario pilots the Star Driver.
- Mario travels across multiple galaxies and is able to land without issue (1.143 - 45.7 Trillion C, likely higher)
- The Power Stars can make Mario travel from the Trial Galaxies to the Comet Observatory (24.4 - 814.6 Quadrillion C, more likely 66.65 - 112.8 Quadrillion C)
Other Heroes of Light
Alongside Mario, Bleck was considered to be either on the level of more powerful than the other Heroes of Light. Given Mario should also scale to them, Bleck should scale just fine.
- Luigi can perform most of the feats Mario can.
- Peach (along with Starlow) used her power to destroy the Dream Stone.
- Bowser can survive a dip in the sun and a black hole (he does this like 3 times what the fuck).
- Bowser in his clown car flew to the sun.
Other Entities of Darkness
Despite being the Mario series, there are multiple eldritch horrors in this universe that Bleck would more than likely scale to due to his previous scaling of the heroes.
- Culex was able to transcend his 2D form and become 3D.
- Culex stated his third dimensional form gave him the power to consume all of time and space (See Before The Verdict)
- Antasma destroyed the Dark Stone
- The Dark Star was going to destroy the entire Mushroom Kingdom.
- The Black Jewel’s explosion leaves its realm as just a white void. (See Before the Verdict)
Rosalina
(Side Note: I absolutely love this outfit for Rosalina)
The Mario cast has interacted and kept up with Rosalina enough (specifically in sports titles and 3D World) to where scaling Bleck to Rosalina isn’t that far fetched.
- Rosalina’s Hyper Strike has her kicking a ball to another planet. (65.9 C)
- Rosalina restored the universe after the black hole that Bowser made almost destroyed it.
Weaknesses
Darkrai
Darkrai, while impressive, has faults. His moveset is limited by the nature of PP, although he can use his moves quite often, they can after a certain amount of uses run out. As a Dark Type, Darkrai also takes super effective damage against Fighting, Bug, and Fairy Type moves. Lastly, it’s likely that this version of Darkrai lacks much experience. He was rather lonely in Wish Park after all, and he did prefer to leave things to his minions or simply end the fight before it even began, like when he erased the memories of Pikachu’s Pals.
Count Bleck
While Bleck is undeniably powerful, he is still held back by a couple things. He usually prefers to let his minions do his dirty work, only getting involved when there isn’t another option. He also heavily relies on the Chaos Heart in his fights, mainly for the shield it grants him. While he absolutely isn’t a sitting duck without it, Bleck is far more vulnerable to damage if his shield is gone.
Before the Verdict
Why is Poképark Darkrai being scaled to a different cosmology?
It was mentioned at the beginning that Darkrai was being semi-composited with his main series counterpart. This was done for the sake of a more interesting and fair debate. I don’t think this semi-composite is too unreasonable, Pokémon in Poképark are generally one-to-one with their main series counterparts, since the literal point of Poképark is the ability to play with these Pokémon in a 3D environment. It’d be weird if the Pokémon from Poképark were substantially weaker than the ones in the main series.
Is the Chaos Heart a fraud?
There’s been some contention on whether or not the Chaos Heart’s Void actually lived up to the hype. So, is the Chaos Heart actually all powerful?
Yeah, no duh it’s powerful.
It’s pretty direct the amount of damage the Chaos Heart is capable of doing. It is stated multiple times, by multiple characters, that the Chaos Heart was going to destroy everything. And when they mean “worlds”, they mean universes (I feel like Chapter 3 and 6 made that obvious but who am I to judge).
How big is Mario’s Cosmology?
Oh god, let’s-a-go.
So… Mario’s world is quite massive. Even just taking into account the main universe, the Galaxy games show the many, many galaxies it has.
But we can get higher. In Super Paper Mario, we know about 12 different worlds {The Mushroom Kingdom, 7 other worlds we travel through (one of which being the infinite in size Outer Space}, Bleck’s domain, and both Flipside and Flopside).
Other dimensions across various games exist as well, like the Painting Worlds in 64, the Ghost Dimension in LM2, various special worlds from across the series, and the Parallel World from Color Splash.
However, we must also take into account dreams. Dreams in Mario are able to create entire worlds. While this is shown in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, it’s Mario Party 5’s Future Dream that’s important. Multiple statements say Future Dream is the size of a galaxy or universe, quite massive.
While a statement of Future Dream being made up of multiple dreams does exist, considering the Dream Depot shows it’s size to be the same as the other dreams, it’s possible (and quite frankly likely considering how powerful the Dream Stone is) that all dreams are universal in size.
This puts Mario’s cosmology well into Multiversal and considering the Chaos Heart was going to destroy all of it… yeah that’s pretty scary.
There are ways of getting this cosmology higher (like String Theory Soup I guess??? Or the actual fucking philosopher Plato what the fuck???) but to avoid sounding deranged I’m keeping the cosmology here.
Is Culex a fraud?
In the Super Mario RPG Remake, Culex is able to go beyond his original sprite form and become 3 dimensional. In it, he states that he will “consume time and space”.
Unfortunately, this statement is very vague and doesn’t even exist in the original Japanese version. As a result, it’s not applicable.
Is the Black Jewel a fraud?
During the events of Wario World, the Black Jewel creates its own realm after Wario stashes it for himself. Once defeated, the Black Jewel explodes, leaving its entire realm a white void.
Unfortunately, the nature of this is quite vague, and we have no way of knowing the actual size of the Black Jewel’s realm, at least from any inarguable source.
This feat and the Culex one don’t really change anything though. They’re mainly just supporting evidence for cosmic scale Mario characters, which has much more blatant examples such as Rosalina.
Verdict
Stats
So just how powerful are these two? Well stats for these two are actually rather interesting.
Starting with Darkrai, him scaling to Dialga and Palkia should get him solidly into Multiversal+. Meanwhile Bleck is… a little more complicated. On his own, the best we can scale to is other Mario characters, in particular Rosalina who was capable of recreating the entire universe. But we also have to go over the Chaos Heart. The Void from the Chaos Heart was going to destroy all worlds, with Mario cosmology being Multiversal, and given Bleck is able to use its power, this would make Bleck Multiversal himself.
So Darkrai has more destructive capabilities but what about speed? Both Darkrai and Bleck have MFTL+ speeds, but Bleck should edge out on being faster with the Power Star feat being faster than the Lunala feat. Bleck’s Chaos Heart shield should also make him much more durable than Darkrai.
Arsenal & Abilities
Now let’s talk about abilities. On the surface, Darkrai seems to have way more. An entire moveset of attacks, sleep inducement, size alterations, mind control. Of course, there are a few problems with these. First, it’s unlikely Darkrai will actually get off his mind manipulation via Wish Park attractions, I doubt Bleck would be exactly enthusiastic to eat cake or play some games in the middle of the fight. And with Bleck’s shield, Darkrai’s sleep inducement and most attacks aren’t going to really do anything.
Even if you want to argue Darkrai can use Disable on specifically the Chaos Heart’s barrier, Bleck still has multiple options for dealing with Darkrai. His time slowing makes his speed advantage even greater, and he’s able to just… BFR Darkrai to somewhere random.
Support
Of course, Darkrai and Bleck aren’t alone, each having their own minions for backup. With (most of them) being unapologetically loyal.
Darkrai’s minions have plenty of useful moves at their disposal, specifically Cofagrigus and Chandelure with moves such as Curse, Pain Split, and Destiny Bond being able to bypass the Chaos Heart shield. The Gothitelle line is capable of controlling minds without the use of attractions. And that’s not even getting into all the stat buffing and stat decreasing moves that can either close or widen the stat gap.
But Bleck’s minions are very much useful in their own right. Nastasia simply has better mind control than the Gothitelle line as she isn’t limited by needing to focus and is seen controlling way more enemies than the Gothitelle line has ever shown. Dimentio also has his own means of mind control with the Floro Sprouts, as well as a slew of other useful abilities like force fields, cloning, invisibility, and (like Bleck) can just transport you to another dimension.
But there’s one thing I’ve been leaving out…
The Void
Inevitably, Darkrai will have to contend with the Chaos Heart’s Void. Simply destroying Bleck or Dimentio wouldn’t be enough, as Dimentio can still control the Chaos Heart from beyond the grave. So… how can Darkrai stop this?
Argument 1: Destroying the Chaos Heart
It makes sense right? Just destroy the source. Well… it’s not exactly that simple. The Chaos Heart was only able to be stopped in the first place due to the love Bleck and Tippi shared, destroying it through physical force isn’t really something that’s ever considered. Not to mention that it’s likely quite sturdy.
The Chaos Heart needed all of the Pure Hearts just to depower it, and just one Pure Heart could survive the entire Sammer Kingdom universe being engulfed by the void. It was petrified afterwards but it still was able to survive. So I think it’s rather unlikely it can simply be destroyed using brute force.
Argument 2: Tanking the Void
Considering Darkrai has higher AP than the Void, can’t he just tank it?
Well no. While he may be stronger in destructive power, Darkrai is not physically stronger than the Void. In fact, in his movie, he literally died from the attacks of Dialga and Palkia. While he did survive the Dark Void in Poképark, that was on a considerably lower scale than the Chaos Heart. So simply tanking it, won’t be an option.
Argument 3: Light Polariton
Considering the Light Polariton was able to stop the Dark Vortex, couldn’t he also use it to stop the Void itself?
Well, probably not. The Void and the Dark Vortex are rather different in creation, the Void was created using magic from the Chaos Heart, unlike the Dark Vortex which is more similar to a standard black hole. The Light Polariton specifically was going to stop the Dark Vortex using scientific methods, ones that would be unlikely to work on the magic Void.
Even if it could, it can only be used once and it would only specifically stop the Void, not the Chaos Heart itself, at which point it could most likely just… make another Void.
Argument 4: Various Moves
There are several moves from Darkrai and his minions that could maybe stop the Chaos Heart, so let’s see if any of them are actually viable.
The obvious answer would be Magic Room, which disables the use of all held items. Unfortunately, there’s a couple problems with this. Even ignoring how technically the Chaos Heart probably wouldn’t be a “held item” in the scenario Dimentio is controlling it with a shadow of his power, Magic Room won’t work on particular powerful items like Mega Stones and Z-Crystals, so most likely it’s not affecting the Chaos Heart.
Unfortunately, the other moves don’t hold up much better. Disable, Skill Swap, Imprison, they all just wouldn’t work on the Chaos Heart, whether it be because they don’t work on items, are too vague, or are too hyper specific.
And that’s it. Darkrai doesn’t have a way to stop the Chaos Heart. This is also assuming that if Bleck falls, Dimentio doesn’t just take the Chaos Heart for himself and camps in Dimension D with it, or just transports everyone else into Dimension D.
Conclusion
“This is not the world… I was wishing for… I’m sorry…”
Advantages:
- Stronger
- Various moves from him and his minions can widen and close the stat gap
- Overall his minions have more versatility…
- The Gothitelle line can mind control Bleck…
- Has ways of getting around the Chaos Heart’s shield…
- Is just so fucking cool
Disadvantages:
- Slower and less durable.
- Has no options against Bleck or Dimentio sending him and his minions to another dimension
- Cannot put Bleck to sleep while the Chaos Heart barrier is up, which is passively always
- …But aren’t as useful as Nastasia or Dimentio
- …But Nastasia’s is much better
- …But cannot stop the Chaos Heart itself or the Void
- We’re never getting Poképark 3
Advantages:
- Faster and more durable with the Chaos Heart shield
- Resists Darkrai’s sleep hax with his shield
- Has more minions that actually matter
- Can easily just send Darkrai and his minions away
- Chaos Heart is in no danger and Darkrai has no way of stopping it
- Dimentio is taking the Chaos Heart if Bleck falls (Bleck probably wouldn’t consider this an advantage but it does help him win the debate)
- Has O’Chunks
- Bro is living happily with his wife
Disadvantages:
- Weaker
- Can still be mind controlled even with his shield
- The Anti-SPM Association
- Hasn’t been acknowledged by Nintendo in nearly 2 decades
It’s pretty clear to see who wins here. While Darkrai has a couple advantages, he simply just doesn’t have the means to avoid his inevitable end. Combined with Bleck being able to end the fight whenever via BFR or having Nastasia mind control all of them, Darkrai just couldn’t keep up. It looks like Darkrai is going to be wishing he never fought Bleck.
